Privacy Policy

ModBay ("modbay.cc", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the ModBay platform (the "Service").

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Username
• Password (stored as a secure bcrypt hash — we never store plain text passwords)
• Display name (optional)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We also store OAuth tokens to maintain your session.

2.2 Profile Information

You may optionally provide:

• Profile picture / avatar
• Bio / description
• State / location (US state only)
• Social media handles (Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, YouTube)
• Favorite car brands

2.3 Vehicle & Build Data

When you create a car build, we store:

• Vehicle details: year, make, model, build name
• Performance specs: horsepower, 0-60 time, top speed
• Modifications: mod names, product links, prices, images
• Custom traits and features
• Build descriptions
• Instagram handle associated with the build

2.4 Images

Photos you upload (vehicle images, hero images, profile pictures) are stored on Cloudflare R2, a secure cloud storage service. Each image is organized under your user account. Images are publicly accessible via direct URL when associated with public builds. When you delete an image or build, the associated files are removed from storage.

2.5 Activity Data

We track your interactions within the platform including:

• Likes on car builds
• Saved/bookmarked builds
• Follow relationships (followers and following)
• Notifications generated by your activity
• Tutorial/onboarding progress

2.6 Payment Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and billing period information, but we never store your credit card number, CVV, or other payment method details. Please refer to Stripe's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your payment data.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the ModBay platform
• Display your car builds and profile to other users (based on your privacy settings)
• Enable social features (following, liking, saving, notifications)
• Process subscription payments through Stripe
• Communicate with you about your account or service updates
• Improve and develop new features for the platform

ModBay stores detailed vehicle and modification data that you provide. This data powers your car profiles and the community experience. We may also use this data in aggregate (anonymized, non-personally-identifiable) form to develop new platform features, such as:

• Parts Picker: A tool to help users find compatible modifications for their specific vehicle based on community data
• Modification Analytics: Aggregated statistics on popular mods, common build configurations, and performance trends
• Build Recommendations: Suggesting mods or configurations based on similar builds in the community
• Community Statistics: Platform-wide data such as most popular car makes, trending modifications, and regional build trends

Your individual build data will never be sold to third parties. Any aggregate features built from community data will use anonymized, non-identifiable information only.

We share your data only with the following services, solely to operate the platform:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (cloud database provider). Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with salt rounds, meaning we cannot see or recover your plain text password. All communication with the Platform is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.

While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

You have the right to:

• Access your data: View all information stored about you through your profile and car build pages
• Edit your data: Update your profile information, car builds, and settings at any time
• Delete your data: Delete individual car builds or your entire account from dashboard settings. Account deletion permanently removes all your data, including profile information, car builds, images, likes, follows, and notifications
• Control visibility: Set your profile to public, followers-only, or private. Set individual builds to public, unlisted, or private. Control whether others can save your builds
• Manage follows: Require approval for new followers, hide your follower/following counts
• Export your data: Contact us at support@modbay.cc to request a copy of your data

ModBay uses session cookies to keep you signed in. These cookies contain a JWT (JSON Web Token) that identifies your session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics services. No data is shared with advertisers.

ModBay is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at support@modbay.cc and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our database. Images stored in Cloudflare R2 are also deleted when you remove them from your builds or delete your account.

Stripe may retain transaction records independently in accordance with their own data retention policies and legal requirements.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
